I, too, remember the Falmouth Hotel.
A bunch of us GPO apprentices were taken down to the area for a fortnights "bonding".
Last but one night they organised a disco to which all the local slappers turned up looking for an ATM to marry. This greatly pissed off the yokels who turned up mob handed.
Around about 11pm, it kicked off.
Barricaded in/on the 4th floor, everything that wasn't fixed to the wall, and a lot that was, became offensive weaponry, rained down on the baying mob of locals below trying to get their tarts back.
I suspect we were the last group of apprentices invited down there.

That triggered an old memory!
I remember staying at The Falmouth Hotel with my parents which is right by Gyllyngvase beach.
I can't remember the year but a young Ian Botham was also staying there when he had only just become well known. I seem to remember he was extremely good at putting too!

Stayed at the Trevalsa Court Hotel in Mevagissey for a couple of nights last summer. Hotel was Ok owner a bit eccentric, fantastic views and there are stairs down to the beach and a walk along the coast into the harbour which is fantastic. Recommend a boat trip from the harbour to Fowey on the way back we had around six dolphins swimming round and under the boat. Great place to visit.

It does indeed - gorgeous harbour though and there was a van doing freshly griddled Cornish Sardine (not Pilchards - honest) butties on the quay last time I was there a couple of years ago. Delicious.
I missed my annual trip to Cornwall last year but the before rented a house up the River Fal a few miles from Falmouth and it was a lovely spot.
There is (or maybe was) a great shellfish restaurant in Falmouth where my son and I tucked into a large crab each.
The North Cornwall coast is my favourite bit (barring Newquay). God I miss playing in the sea.

Visited Mevagissey on several occasions, always at Christmas/new year.
Lovely little harbour, really must try and get down there during the summer months.
St.Austell on the other hand I found to be a shithole.

Rossal - My sister likes in Mevagissey, its a beautiful town, not far from St Austell if you can squeeze it in. If you go into the local pub there called The Ship, the owner is a big(Large) West Ham fan.

Im planning a staycation for 7-10 days of cornwall.
Thinking to do couple of days near Looe, then few days near Newquay then finishing up near Padstow, tintagel etc....
Sound a good plan for those in the know? Or any recommendations ...

Meat Locker for a burger.
Monday night quiz at the Working Boat under the Gren and Hotel.
If they are open by then, most if not all of the pubs let you take your own food in.
Best Town in the West Country, if not the whole country.
